Chelsea DesRosiers is done hiding behind heartbreak. Fresh out of a messy breakup, she decides it’s time to step into a new version of herself — starting with something way out of her comfort zone: swing dance classes. Two left feet aside, she soon finds herself twirling (sometimes literally) into the orbit of Lux Colford, the campus dance president with charm to spare. But just as Chelsea starts to trust her heart again, Lux’s past waltzes in to complicate everything. Will she take the leap for love, or learn that sometimes the bravest thing is choosing herself?

I had such a lovely time reading this one. It’s a tender coming-of-age story about rediscovering who you are, setting boundaries, and daring to love again — even when it’s scary and uncertain. What I adored most was how gentle this love felt. Nicole Bea beautifully captures that quiet kind of love — the kind that soothes, heals, and helps you grow into yourself. The story unfolds with softness and sincerity, balancing vulnerability with hopeful, romantic charm.
I did pause a bit at how quickly Chelsea moved on from her breakup, but in the end, I couldn’t help rooting for her and Lux. He’s patient, kind, and their relationship feels refreshingly real — two people still learning, stumbling, and choosing to try again anyway. I also loved the swing-dance backdrop and the little touches of French throughout (as a French-Canadian, they made me smile!); it added such a unique and personal touch.
“I’m thinking about Dad. And I’m thinking about how I wanted to be someone else this year. When I met you, I wanted to be a different person.” “You’re the perfect person just the way you are, you know.” “Maybe I know that now. I think I’ve changed just enough to feel reinvented without feeling like I don’t recognize myself.”
💫 Soft, healing, and hopeful.
